Frequently Asked Questions...

And Answers Frequently Given

I receive lots of email here from the Contact Us form. There are a lot of frequently occuring requests. Even if you do see your answer on this page, I am happy to hear from you. It is very gratifying to realise that I can help you find the information you are looking for.

1) How much is my item worth?

Well, this is far and above the most frequently asked question.

And the answer is...it depends!

Your items and mine are technically worth whatever another person will pay for them. Nothing more and certainly nothing less.

Now, arriving at a dollar figure for any item takes some research. We can guess at an amount by seeing what the same or similar items have sold for in the past.

The quickest, easiest place to arrive at my guess is eBay.

I use eBay more than I use any of my other price guides, The prices on eBay are the most current since any price in the completed auctions search is less than 30 days old.

A word of caution, though... occaisonally one or two bidders will decide that they MUST have that particular item, no matter what! If you are the seller of that particular item, it is worth a lot more than if these spendthrifts had not found it. Life can be very good for a seller, if he can find a few spendthrifts. However, the auction price for this particular item is usually more than that item is actually worth.

Unless the item you have is actually unique or perceived to be so, you will not get full price for it. If you sell it to a dealer, you will not even get half price for it. Dealers are in business to turn a profit. Most good dealers of anything actually make their money when they BUY the item, way before it is sold.

Thought for today: if you will not part with your item for sentimental or other reasons, do not be concerned by "what is it worth?" If you will keep it no matter what, it is priceless, as far as both you and the rest of the world are concerned. Revel in the joy of owning a priceless item. You might be surprised how few people own priceless items nowadays.

2) Can you help me find this item?

Possibly.

Keep one thing in mind, though. I, like you, have 24 hours a day. And only 24.

I can recommend sources, good sources at that. I am happy to do that for you, my valued visitor.

Will I find it for you? No, not unless you have impeccable timing and I read your email when I know for certain that the particular item is currently listed on eBay. And that is only if I'm not bidding on it myself!

If I know that a source has the item you are seeking, I will certainly point you in the right direction.

3) May I use your articles on my website?

Yes.

You may use my articles on your website, in your aution listing and anywhere else. I am flattered that you enjoy them enough to consider using them.

There is one condition, however, and that is:

Please give credit where credit is due. If the article is used on the web, please give a link back to the page you liked or the home page. If it is used in print, give credit.

Contact me for more details. I will be happy to help.

4) I notice that your site is "Powered by SiteBuildIt!". Are you satisfied with that service? I am thinking about starting my own website. Can I do it?

OK... this is a toughie. Not tough because I don't know the answer. Both answers are "Yes!"

It's tough to answer because there is so much to say. I will give this one my best try.

SiteBuildit! has my highest recommendation. I have recommended it to all my friends who are interested in having a website and even some who aren't.

The real beauty of SiteBuildIt! is that it eliminates technical barriers for newbies. When I started Best-Norman-Rockwell-Art.com, I was not a newbie, but I was a technological illiterate. I knew I wanted to have a web-based business, but I didn't know how.

SiteBuildIt! made it possible for me to build this website with only the slightest technological know-how. All I needed to make this work was an internet connection, reading skills, typing skills (and that was a stretch) and an ability to follow directions and learn.

IF you are reading this, you already have the skill set that I started with. I would be surprised if you aren't more advanced than I was when I started.

Can you do it? Yes, you can. All you need are brains, motivation and the right tools.

To find out more about SiteBuildit!, you can click on the "Powered by SiteBuildIt!" graphic at the bottom of any page.

5) How do you stay so young-looking?

I really do wish someone would ask this!

I post an old picture on my About Us page. Also, I smile a lot. Anyone looks youger when they smile.

I actually have been called an "Ageless Wonder" (I have a plaque to prove it!) by some younger friends and I will be starting another website on that topic one day soon.

I hope these answers have been helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of any help.
