The Digest featured Rockwell artwork on the cover twelve times total in 1921 alone. A Rockwell painting appeared on the cover once each month in 1921. This illustration has been reproduced on page 58 of Norman Rockwell, A Definitive Catalogue by Laurie Norton Moffatt. The location of the original oil on canvas painting is unknown.

Here is the complete list of all Norman Rockwell magazine covers. For Thanksgiving 1921, Rockwell has painted the prelude to a great feast. Thanksgiving is inscribed across the drapes at the top of the painting to remind the viewer. Man and wife are unpacking their purchase, getting ready to cook a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. In the foreground, we see all the vegetables to accompany the turkey. Rockwell includes cauliflower, bell pepper, carrot, celery and a pumpkin. Also included in the feast will be pickled beets. Above the couple, a parakeet chirps happily in his cage, oblivious to the fate of his larger, more succulent cousin. Rockwell painted scenes that were relevant to his viewers. This painting was published the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
