Saint Albans Historical SocietySt. Albans, VermontThe Saint Albans Historical Society features one original Norman Rockwell pen and ink on paper drawing in its permanent collection. While not tecnically a Norman Rockwell museum, the museum is listed here because it does boaast one piece of Rockwell artwork. The prize of the museum's collection, in my Norman Rockwell art collector's mind, is not an original Norman Rockwell painting, but an illustration that appeared inside the Saturday Evening Post. Norman Rockwell Visits a Family Doctor, a 10 x 9.5 inch or 25.5 x 24 cm pen and ink on paper illustration, is on display inside the museum in the medical display. Norman Rockwell Visits a Family Doctor was the title of several illustrations appearing in an article of the same name. This particular drawing is captioned "His collection of Vermont historical material fills four book-lined rooms." Norman Rockwell Visits a Family Doctor appeared in the April 12, 1947 issue of The Saturday Evening Post on page 33. Norman Rockwell Visits a Family Doctor was alo reproduced in The Norman Rockwell Album. This museum is definitely worth a visit. Especially for a Norman Rockwell collector. About Saint Albans Historical SocietyThe museum is open May 18 thru October 16, Tuesday through Friday 1pm to 4pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm. The museum is also open by appointment. Admission is $5.00. Norman Rockwell Quotes:I'll never have enough time to paint all the pictures I'd like to. No man with a conscience can just bat out illustrations. He's got to put all his talent and feeling into them! Some people have been kind enough to call me a fine artist. I've always called myself an illustrator. I'm not sure what the difference is. All I know is that whatever type of work I do, I try to give it my very best. Art has been my life. Right from the beginning, I always strived to capture everything I saw as completely as possible. The secret to so many artists living so long is that every painting is a new adventure. So, you see, they're always looking ahead to something new and exciting. The secret is not to look back. I can take a lot of pats on the back. I love it when I get admiring letters from people. And, of course, I'd love it if the critics would notice me, too. You must first spend some time getting your model to relax. Then you'll get a natural expression. More at BrainyQuote. Rockwell Favorites
